Have You Been Furloughed?
If you have been furloughed from work here are three things I would start doing immediately.
In the UK, 1/5 people have been furloughed, this is around 6.3 million people. Over the next month or so we are going to find out if the Government will extend the furlough period or if they could cut the amount from 80% of someones wages to 60%. This could cause an issue for companies who may have to start making redundancies.
Here are three things you can start to do today:
Get your LinkedIn profile up to date and work on creating a solid CV that outlines your accomplishments and not just a list of duties.
Make sure you are using this time to learn new skills. We all have areas that we could improve on, now is the time to make sure you have what is needed if you have to apply for jobs.
Network, get in touch with people, they are receptive and keen to hear from others at the moment. Make new connections with people who could help you in the future on LinkedIn as well. Set yourself a goal 25 people a day for example. Just start the process.
If you have already started looking for a new job then I would encourage you to keep networking as much as you can. Obviously, you must make sure that you’re being discreet. I know that people are concerned about starting their job search incase their current employer finds out. The three things I have suggested are all things that you can do without any risk of anyone finding out your intentions.
