Career Advice is Boring
Updated: Mar 20
I know, I know, it’s boring. Whenever I read anything about how to get ahead in your career, or how to get your CV past ATS I just get bored.
That’s not because these things are boring or that the articles written are boring. What is does mean is that I don’t enjoy how this information is presented to me.
And that's a problem because knowing about this stuff can make all the difference between doing ok in your career and doing really really well.
So I thought I'd start to put the things I do find interesting in one place. Just to have it all here in case someone else found it useful and/or interesting.
Everyone knows that in order to earn money, you have to do some kind of work. If you do a series of jobs that are relatively similar then you'll end up with a career.
Many of us didn’t plan our careers and when life is great we don’t really worry about what’s going to happen next.
That means we’re only looking at career help articles when we need to. It’s a bit like needing to go somewhere and then decide, only when we get into the car, to learn to drive.
The Work Edition is a place where I put my thoughts about the world of work, how we shape and create our careers and what is changing.
The pandemic changed how we worked forever. How are we going to respond to it?
Welcome to the blog, I hope you stick around. Take a look at @theworkedition on social. You can find a lot of info there too.
Thanks for reading my post.
